GoldenEye

Luxury Villas · Oracabessa

Rating: 4.8 / 5

Ian Fleming built GoldenEye at Oracabessa on the north coast of St Mary in 1946 and wrote all fourteen James Bond novels at its desk. Chris Blackwell's Island Outpost group has since turned the estate into a luxury resort of beach cottages, lagoon villas and hillside houses, with the famously photographed sunken pool and a private beach and lagoon. The original Fleming villa can still be booked. Relaxed, barefoot luxury in one of Jamaica's most historically resonant locations. 876-622-9007.

For boutique luxury, choose Round Hill, Half Moon, Jamaica Inn, Goldeneye, Rockhouse, The Caves, or Strawberry Hill in the Blue Mountains. Treasure Beach's Jakes is the south coast soul. Kingston business travellers head to The Spanish Court, Pegasus, or AC Marriott. From $80-a-night guesthouses to $5,000-a-night villas, every budget fits Jamaica.
