JP Information

Justices of the Peace in Jamaica are appointed by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice. JPs can witness affidavits and statutory declarations, certify copies of documents, sign passport applications, and sit in Petty Sessions courts. Find a JP at any parish library, parish court office, or through the Ministry of Justice. The service is free.
