Caribbean Centre for Mental Health Studies

Research · UWI

Rating: 4.5 / 5

The Caribbean Centre for Mental Health Studies, based at UWI Mona in Kingston 7, is a research centre studying mental-health policy, service delivery, and outcomes across the Caribbean. Produces much of the peer-reviewed research informing mental-health reform in Jamaica and the wider region. Most Jamaican mental-health services charge fees at the private-practice end and are free at the public end; sliding-scale options and NHF-subsidised medication for chronic mental illness can substantially lower out-of-pocket costs for clients who qualify.
