Opened in 1962 for the island's independence celebrations, the stadium sits inside the Independence Park complex on Arthur Wint Drive in Kingston and seats roughly 35,000. It hosts international athletics meets, Reggae Boyz football internationals, and the five-day ISSA Boys & Girls Athletics Championships each March, where 30,000 fans pack the stands to watch the teenage stars of Jamaican sprinting emerge.
