Discovery Bay Marina

Marina · St. Ann

Rating: 4.4 / 5

Discovery Bay Marina, on the horseshoe-shaped Columbus Bay in St. Ann, is a small, quiet marina on the north coast between Runaway Bay and Rio Bueno. It serves a mix of local yacht owners, visiting cruisers and a handful of charter operations, and sits alongside Puerto Seco Beach — where Columbus is thought to have landed in 1494 — and Columbus Park. The marina makes a useful base for small-group charter fishing and coastal sailing away from the busier Mobay and Ocho Rios waterfronts.

About fishing in Jamaica

Jamaica's deep waters hold blue marlin, wahoo, sailfish, mahi-mahi, and tuna. The Port Antonio Marlin Tournament every October is one of the longest-running deep-sea events in the Caribbean. Charter boats run daily out of Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, and Port Antonio. The Black River Safari in St. Elizabeth is the place for crocodile spotting and inland fishing. The fish markets at Old Harbour and Whitehouse sell the daily catch.
