Rating: 4.5 / 5

Montego Bay Yacht Club, founded in 1959 on Bogue Lagoon in the sheltered waters south of the cruise pier, is Mobay's main sailing and sportfishing hub. The club runs a marina, a full-service restaurant and bar, and a year-round racing calendar, and serves as the home base for the Montego Bay International Marlin Tournament — one of the Caribbean's longest-established big-game billfish events. Visitor moorings are available and the club is the main jumping-off point for north-coast charter fishing.

About fishing in Jamaica

Jamaica's deep waters hold blue marlin, wahoo, sailfish, mahi-mahi, and tuna. The Port Antonio Marlin Tournament every October is one of the longest-running deep-sea events in the Caribbean. Charter boats run daily out of Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, and Port Antonio. The Black River Safari in St. Elizabeth is the place for crocodile spotting and inland fishing. The fish markets at Old Harbour and Whitehouse sell the daily catch.
