Negril Yacht Club

Sailing & Fishing Hub

Rating: 4.4 / 5

The Negril Yacht Club is a small, private members' club that serves as the informal organising hub for Negril's visiting cruisers, local sailors and the annual Negril sportfishing tournament circuit. It is not a full marina — Negril has no deepwater marina — but the club provides a meeting point for charter introductions, mooring advice and a social base for the fishing community. Non-members can sometimes arrange introductions to charter captains through the club.

About fishing in Jamaica

Jamaica's deep waters hold blue marlin, wahoo, sailfish, mahi-mahi, and tuna. The Port Antonio Marlin Tournament every October is one of the longest-running deep-sea events in the Caribbean. Charter boats run daily out of Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, and Port Antonio. The Black River Safari in St. Elizabeth is the place for crocodile spotting and inland fishing. The fish markets at Old Harbour and Whitehouse sell the daily catch.
