Treasure Beach Sport Fishing

Charter · St. Elizabeth

Rating: 4.5 / 5

Treasure Beach's south-coast fishing community has supplied the local kitchens — and, over the last two decades, a small sportfishing charter scene — for generations. Boats operate from Calabash Bay and Frenchman's Bay, offering half-day inshore and deep-sea trips for snapper, kingfish, wahoo, mahi-mahi and the occasional billfish, and routinely combine a fishing morning with lunch at Floyd's Pelican Bar on the sandbar offshore. Charters are generally booked informally through local captains and guesthouses such as Jakes.

About fishing in Jamaica

Jamaica's deep waters hold blue marlin, wahoo, sailfish, mahi-mahi, and tuna. The Port Antonio Marlin Tournament every October is one of the longest-running deep-sea events in the Caribbean. Charter boats run daily out of Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, and Port Antonio. The Black River Safari in St. Elizabeth is the place for crocodile spotting and inland fishing. The fish markets at Old Harbour and Whitehouse sell the daily catch.
