Devon House I Scream

Ice Cream · Kingston

Rating: 4.8 / 5

Housed in the grounds of the 1881 Devon House national heritage site at 26 Hope Road, Kingston, Devon House I Scream has been named by National Geographic among the world's top places for ice cream. Over two dozen flavours rotate through the scoop case — soursop, Devon Stout, rum and raisin, grape-nut, the red-green-and-gold Bob Marley sorbet, and more — served on waffle cones and eaten on the lawns alongside a patty from one of the other Devon House kiosks. It is as close as Kingston gets to a sacred evening ritual. Daily 11am to 10pm; 876-929-7029.

About restaurants in Jamaica

Jamaican food is one of the most influential cuisines in the world — jerk, ackee and saltfish, curry goat, oxtail, escovitch, ital, festivals, and bammy. Scotchies in Montego Bay set the global standard for jerk; Boston Bay in Portland is where it was invented. Devon House in Kingston serves the world's best ice cream alongside legendary Norma's. Treasure Beach has Jakes and Jack Sprat. From cliff-edge Rockhouse in Negril to Houseboat Grill in Mobay, Jamaica's dining scene blends roadside perfection with world-class fine dining.
