Jakes Restaurant

Boutique Dining · Treasure Beach

Rating: 4.7 / 5

The restaurant at Jakes Hotel is the social hub of Calabash Bay and much of Treasure Beach on Jamaica's laid-back south coast. The menu is Caribbean and creative — fresh-caught fish from the bay, curried goat, bammy, south-coast vegetables, home-made ice cream — served in a colourful, bohemian setting of mismatched tables and driftwood art. It draws hotel guests, villa renters and locals in equal measure, and doubles as the meeting point for pretty much every community event in Treasure Beach. Daily 7am to 10pm; 876-965-3000.

About restaurants in Jamaica

Jamaican food is one of the most influential cuisines in the world — jerk, ackee and saltfish, curry goat, oxtail, escovitch, ital, festivals, and bammy. Scotchies in Montego Bay set the global standard for jerk; Boston Bay in Portland is where it was invented. Devon House in Kingston serves the world's best ice cream alongside legendary Norma's. Treasure Beach has Jakes and Jack Sprat. From cliff-edge Rockhouse in Negril to Houseboat Grill in Mobay, Jamaica's dining scene blends roadside perfection with world-class fine dining.
