Treasure Beach

South Coast · St. Elizabeth

Rating: 4.6 / 5

Treasure Beach is a string of four fishing villages — Billy's Bay, Frenchman's Bay, Calabash Bay and Great Bay — along the arid south coast of St. Elizabeth. It is the antithesis of Jamaica's cruise-ship resorts: no all-inclusives, no high-rises and no mass tourism, just dark-sand coves, boutique guesthouses, a respected community tourism scene and a string of independent bars and kitchens. The fishing community still supplies most of the restaurants, and boat captains run the famed trip out to Floyd's Pelican Bar. The vibe is bohemian, slow and community-minded, anchored by long-running spots like Jakes and Jack Sprat.

About beaches in Jamaica

Jamaica is home to over 80 beaches strung along three distinct coastlines. The north coast — anchored by Negril's Seven Mile Beach, Doctor's Cave in Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios — is the world-famous resort strip with calm turquoise water. The east coast around Port Antonio hides the most dramatic coves: Frenchman's Cove, Winnifred Beach, and Boston Bay. The south coast offers laid-back local favourites like Treasure Beach, Bluefields, and Hellshire. From the cliff-jumping spot at Rick's Café to the secluded sands of Lime Cay, this guide covers every beach worth visiting.
