Nine Mile sits high in the hills of St. Ann, about an hour south of Ocho Rios, and is both the village where Bob Marley was born in 1945 and where he is buried. A guided tour of the family property takes in his childhood home, the 'single bed' he wrote about in 'Is This Love', Mount Zion Rock where he meditated, and the mausoleum where he was laid to rest in 1981. The tour is run by the Marley family and sons of the community, with Rasta colours everywhere and reggae on the sound system. It is as much a pilgrimage as a sightseeing trip.
