Cane River Falls

East Coast · St. Andrew

Rating: 4.5 / 5

Cane River Falls is a small waterfall and swimming hole just east of Kingston at Bull Bay, in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. The pool at the base of the falls was, by local tradition, Bob Marley's favourite bathing spot, and the site is referenced in his lyrics. A short walk from the road leads to the pool; cliff jumping, natural slides and a shallow wading area make it popular with local families at weekends. It is an easy half-day trip from Kingston and pairs well with a drive along the coast to Nine Mile or Jamnesia Surf Club.

About beaches in Jamaica

Jamaica is home to over 80 beaches strung along three distinct coastlines. The north coast — anchored by Negril's Seven Mile Beach, Doctor's Cave in Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios — is the world-famous resort strip with calm turquoise water. The east coast around Port Antonio hides the most dramatic coves: Frenchman's Cove, Winnifred Beach, and Boston Bay. The south coast offers laid-back local favourites like Treasure Beach, Bluefields, and Hellshire. From the cliff-jumping spot at Rick's Café to the secluded sands of Lime Cay, this guide covers every beach worth visiting.
