Cousins Cove Beach

North Coast · Hanover

Rating: 4.4 / 5

Cousins Cove is a quiet white-sand cove on the Hanover coast between Montego Bay and Negril, anchoring a small fishing village of the same name. The cove has calm, shallow water, fishing boats pulled up on the beach and the kind of low-key, lived-in feel that has largely disappeared from the main resort towns. There are no hotels and few visitors; the community is tight-knit and welcoming, and a couple of modest local kitchens do fresh fish. A nice stop on a coastal drive between the two big resort centres.

About beaches in Jamaica

Jamaica is home to over 80 beaches strung along three distinct coastlines. The north coast — anchored by Negril's Seven Mile Beach, Doctor's Cave in Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios — is the world-famous resort strip with calm turquoise water. The east coast around Port Antonio hides the most dramatic coves: Frenchman's Cove, Winnifred Beach, and Boston Bay. The south coast offers laid-back local favourites like Treasure Beach, Bluefields, and Hellshire. From the cliff-jumping spot at Rick's Café to the secluded sands of Lime Cay, this guide covers every beach worth visiting.
