Half Moon Bay Beach

North Coast · Negril

Rating: 4.5 / 5

Half Moon Bay is a small, secluded beach south of Negril in Westmoreland, tucked along the undeveloped stretch between Orange Bay and Little Bay. The crescent of white sand is backed by low cliffs and scrub, and the water inside the bay is exceptionally clear — the snorkelling over the near-shore reef is some of the best around Negril. Access is by boat from Seven Mile Beach or by a short drive and walk down from the coast road. There are occasional beach vendors but no resorts, no loungers and minimal crowds.

About beaches in Jamaica

Jamaica is home to over 80 beaches strung along three distinct coastlines. The north coast — anchored by Negril's Seven Mile Beach, Doctor's Cave in Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios — is the world-famous resort strip with calm turquoise water. The east coast around Port Antonio hides the most dramatic coves: Frenchman's Cove, Winnifred Beach, and Boston Bay. The south coast offers laid-back local favourites like Treasure Beach, Bluefields, and Hellshire. From the cliff-jumping spot at Rick's Café to the secluded sands of Lime Cay, this guide covers every beach worth visiting.
