San San Beach

East Coast · Port Antonio

Rating: 4.6 / 5

San San Beach is a small, picture-book Portland beach east of Port Antonio, sitting next to Frenchman's Cove and below the Goblin Hill Villas. Casuarina pines line the sand, the bay is calm and snorkel-friendly (the reef just offshore is good), and the crescent is neatly sheltered by headlands. Access is usually via a small day-pass fee collected by the local community; there is a beach bar but little other development. It is a quieter, cheaper alternative to Frenchman's Cove with the same Portland scenery.

About beaches in Jamaica

Jamaica is home to over 80 beaches strung along three distinct coastlines. The north coast — anchored by Negril's Seven Mile Beach, Doctor's Cave in Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios — is the world-famous resort strip with calm turquoise water. The east coast around Port Antonio hides the most dramatic coves: Frenchman's Cove, Winnifred Beach, and Boston Bay. The south coast offers laid-back local favourites like Treasure Beach, Bluefields, and Hellshire. From the cliff-jumping spot at Rick's Café to the secluded sands of Lime Cay, this guide covers every beach worth visiting.
