Rating: 4.5 / 5

The Trelawny Yam Festival is an annual celebration of the yellow yam — the parish's signature ground provision and a crop long associated with the physical prowess of Trelawny-raised sprinters. Events include yam-cooking competitions, yam-eating contests, a farmers' market, stage performances and the famous best-dressed donkey parade. The festival anchors a weekend of parish pride, usually held around the Easter period in or near Albert Town.
