Rating: 4.5 / 5

Western Consciousness is a long-running conscious-reggae and roots-music festival staged in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, each April. Founded by the veteran promoter Worrell King, it has drawn many of the genre's biggest names over the years and sits firmly in the roots and cultural tradition rather than the commercial dancehall mainstream. An important date in the calendar for roots-reggae fans and Westmoreland's answer to east-end festivals like Rebel Salute.
