Rating: 4.6 / 5

Sistren Theatre Collective is an independent Jamaican women's cultural organisation founded in 1977 by a group of street-cleaning workers from the Kingston Metropolitan Area. Using theatre, storytelling, and popular education, Sistren contests patriarchal norms, raises awareness about violence against women, and amplifies the voices of working-class Jamaican women. Its productions have toured the Caribbean, the US, and Europe. The collective also runs community workshops on gender-based violence, self-expression, and advocacy, and has influenced a generation of Caribbean feminist practice.
