Founded in 1983, WROC is one of Jamaica's oldest feminist community-development NGOs, based at 47 Beechwood Avenue, Kingston 5. Its work is rooted in human-rights-based approaches to gender equality, and activities include community workshops in Lyndhurst and Greenwich Town, livelihoods and skills training, sexual and reproductive health education, HIV prevention, and advocacy on gender-based violence and women's political participation. Long-term partner of UN Women Caribbean, the Bureau of Gender Affairs, and international donors. A grassroots counterweight to top-down government messaging.
